What a day. Sorry, mom...

My Mother's Day breakfast with mom was interrupted by a mildly frantic phone call from a 9 year old girl, nearly begging me to come help her mommy, a friend of mine who's come through for me in the past.

I apologized to my mom, and made tracks for my friend's home.

Upon my arrival I'm greeted at the door by her daughter who called me, and her almost 3 year old daughter, both clearly very concerned about their mommy.

After a short time talking to her it's clear she's in dire need of medical help, and after no small amount of cajoling I convince her to let me take her to the hospital.

As fortune would have it, she had gall stones, and was in serious need of surgery.

I spent most of 9 hours with her today, most of that at the hospital, caring for her and her two daughters.

When I finally departed the hospital, and returned to her home to retrieve my vehicle, I was gifted with a flat tire.

My mother's vehicle lacks a tire iron, so I inquired with the neighbor, who did indeed have one. Even better, the brother-in-law had a better jack (floor jack), and as fortune would have it, whilst I was removing said flat, he noticed a nail, and stated he could repair it immediately.

He repaired the tire while I installed the "donut" spare.

Shortly after my girlfriend arrived and graciously followed me to the station to air the tire.

More stupid ensued as I asked around for a tire iron; "I don't have one" (brand new Nissan), "mine won't fit your car" (like you know what kind of car I'm in), etc.

Finally, a good samaritan reveals himself, and provides the exact iron I needed.

Just prior to finishing the swap I receive a call from my friend, Ken. I tell him I'll call him back in a moment. (He's aware of what's transpired over the course of my day, and had previously texted me to offer assistance).
Just after finishing, he showed up in person, just to make sure I was OK.

While I was changing the tire, my wonderful girlfriend brought me some beer, to enjoy when I got home.

Some people have lauded my actions today, but I wasn't doing anything a real friend wouldn't do.

Aimee and Ken showed me that they are real friends. Anthony, the neighbor, showed me there are still great people out there.

Thank you.

In just over an hour I;

shredded red potatoes and browned them up,
made pizza dough,
seasoned and browned ground beef,
baked the pizza crust,
whipped the eggs,
assembled and baked the pizza,
put everything away.

I have no dirty dishes (in the dishwasher), and no dirty counters, and no dirty stovetop.

Clean as you go...
